I am proud to announce to Regina and surrounding area that I am now a certified Hunter Douglas installer!

Actually, I have been a while now. Back in October of 2018, I made the long trip down to Denver, CO for a three-day course to earn the certification.

It was an excellent time – it wasn’t just the detailed discussions about the benefits of every product. It wasn’t just the installation tips and tricks. It was also the sneak peeks at what’s coming next, the opportunity to discuss product complaints and difficulties from an installer’s standpoint, and the chance to see inside many types of blinds and shades, and better understand how every part works and how to service them. Most importantly, it was so beneficial to spend three days learning and working alongside over 20 other installers and dealers from across North America, to share best practices, discuss difficulties we’ve all experienced, and just generally talk business like you only can with direct colleagues.

This was also a great opportunity to spend nearly an entire day learning all about two things which were skill gaps of mine at the time – Powerview motorized shades, and PVC shutters. I’m proud to say I am now an expert on motorization, and very proficient at shutters (though there is a master shutter installer course I can still take to truly become an expert). Take a look at the pictures – the training facility was really state-of-the-art. There are dozens of simulation “windows” where one can choose from all of the styles of blinds and brackets, and take the time to practice installation as well as troubleshooting. These stations were also able to handle shutter installations!

To maintain this designation, Hunter Douglas requires that I review new materials every year and take a short quiz to confirm my understanding. There’s always more to know, and I’m glad that they make sure I do!

If you’re a dealer in the Regina area and you need an installer for your Hunter Douglas products, look no further. I believe there’s only one other certified installer in the city and he is semi-retired.

If you’re a potential customer of mine and you’re wondering how this applies to my own products, I can tell you that it does – a lot! Comfortex is an independent subsidiary of Hunter Douglas, and so many of their products contain the exact same internal parts as their Hunter Douglas counterparts. My years of experience performing warranty repairs have only been supplemented by my 2018 Hunter Douglas training.

I look forward to serving Regina’s blinds and shades market with a service standard even greater than I always have! Thanks to all my customers, past, present and future, for your support.
